Advert Analysis - VH1

L’Oreal Elvive smooth- intense
Techniques-
From my research of L’Oreal adverts I have discovered that they generally use the same techniques throughout all there advertisements as it helps sell the product. The techniques are a mixture of celebrity endorsement, promising a benefit, beauty appeal and a scientific claim. I have chosen a specific L’Oreal advert which uses all these techniques.

Celebrity endorsement- In this advertisement L’Oreal have used 3 different celebrities in one advertisement, two well know actresses Eva Longoria and Kerry Washington and one of Victoria’s Secret Angels, Doutzen Kroes. By using this technique the viewers will buy the product as they would have similar characteristics to the three celebs. This technique is very common for L’Oreal as they use many different celebrities in their advertisements such as Cheryl Cole, Patrick Dempsey, Scarlette Johansson, Penelope Cruz and many more.
Promising a benefit- In this L’Oreal advert a benefit is promised. By stating that after using this shampoo your hair will be Sleeker, 4x smoother and protected from frizz even in high humidity, would make many women want to buy the product as most of them do want smoother hair.
Beauty appeal- This advert uses 3 beautiful women in order to grab the viewer’s attention many people are attracted to beautiful things or people, by using this in a shampoo advert will influence the views to purchase the product as they would want beautiful hair too.
Scientific claim- Often in L’Oreal advertisements they claim to have some sort of special ingredients to make your hair better. In this case they claim to have ‘nutrileum’ to make your hair smoother by stating this to the audience they feel intelligent and it makes the product seem unique to any other shampoo.
